I’m thrilled to release this fun new video! Click HERE to watch! Shot in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, ‘Clifftop’ evokes the story of the new friendship between a guitar-picking farmhand, played by mw, and a traveling fiddler who is making his way to a music festival in West Virginia. Actor/fiddler Jesse Wells expresses the spirit of the rambling mountain musician, while videographers Dillon Bock and Alison Goedde capture the essence of my tune and my love for playing music with newfound friends, while journeying to music festivals.
West Virginia, by God!
Beautifully Equipped Podcast Releases Today!
Here’s the Podcast! I’m still floored that I was asked to represent Colorado in the ambitious “50 Women, 50 States” project that the lovely women of Beautifully Equipped have been producing. These B.E. gals have impressive backgrounds and resumes, and their intuitive intelligence shines through in their questions and interview skills. They brought out stories I’ve never told before, because they wanted to zone in on that definitive moment of committing my life to music. Here, we explore my story with the goal of relating to anyone pursuing a passion.
‘Guitar Player of the Year’ Nomination
Thank you SPBGMA. It is an honor to be listed alongside men of great talent. Music has given me personal rewards this year, and I’m grateful every time I pick up my guitar.
Good times on Atlantic Seaboard
Thanks to each venue who hosted me along the ol’ road for my first-ever solo tour this week. The adventures coincided with Hurricane Florence’s visit to Southwest Virginia, where I shared some tunes with songwriter David Via & mad flatpicker, Claiborne Woodall (and replenished my collection of blueberry habenero sauce, thanks to Doug Beatty)
I moved the party to Round Hill, Virginia, where banjo boss Casey Henry & I hosted a fun-filled Neighborhood Night at B Chord Brewing Co. She blasted through her awesome renditions of Stanley tunes like “Riding that Midnight Train” and we led a double-banjo sing-along, alongside B Chord’s host, Erik Burnham on mandolin. (And of course I ended up pickin’ into the wee hours after the show)
Delaware next. First time playing in this lovely state! Thanks, Dogfish Head–LOVED your crowd–real music lovers! Had fun on your Rehoboth Beach.
Maryland’s Eastern Shore treated me to more music lovers at Avalon Theatre, Berlin Fiddler’s Convention, Globe Theatre, & WOMC 89.1 The Ocean. I also got to stay up late each night picking with new friends–which is where my heart really lies. I’m grateful to everyone who came to the shows and helped spread the word. What a wonderful community.
See you out there on the road! Friends to join along the way…
