Spring is here in in the South, big time. We performed some ‘grass at the Tennessee’s House annual homecoming and ate barbecue alongside Governor Haslam and other important people. Thanks again for having us!

Music’s biggest night celebrated Nashville style. Congrats Brent Truitt, When We Fall producer and engineer, for his Grammy Award for best bluegrass album with The Steel Drivers. Other Nashville folks to congratulate: Bela Fleck & Abby Washburn, Chris Stapleton. <3

It’s been said many times, many ways…So wait, I’ll sing it to you! Acoustic trio “The Christmas Song” a.k.a “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.” In gratitude for a wonderful year of music, teamwork, laughter, joy on and off the road, and fantastic folkie bluegrass folks like you. God bless!

Holiday spirit moved us Friday. We loved our beautiful Columbus, OH audience. Thanks to Six String Concerts for presenting this folky grassy trio!

Glad we were able to add Christmas music to our bag of bluegrass, jazz swing, honky tonk, old time and folk music. We even got Robert to pull out the ol’ fiddle! Thanks Joel Stein for the great pics. See ya down the road, Ohio!

Here are things that make us happy in the Fall-time. Chili simmering on the crock pot. Children jumping in a leaf pile. A jack o’lantern and a little boy who carved it. A life-size zombie of Marilyn Monroe (that now lives at our house). A winter jacket found at Goodwill for $9, for the fastest growing 3-year old girl on earth!

‘Twas an honor to be invited to be the “Featured Artist” for Berklee’s Alumni Songwriter Showcase here in Nashville. We met young, talented writers who are surely making Berklee proud. Thanks, Shantell Ogden, for being the heart and soul of this monthly gathering. I’m so glad I went to Berklee…albeit briefly!

Hard to believe Hit & Run is winding down for the year, but it has been such an amazing year of traveling all over this beautiful, inspiring country of ours. Thanks for showing us such warmth on the road! Here’s to gratitude, abundance, music, & friends. Cheers.

Our time at Wide Open was short but sweet this year in rainy Raleigh. Amazing music to be heard in every nook & cranny. Thanks International Bluegrass Music Association for the unique gathering of the vibes and soundwaves. Super inspiring.

It’s been an eventful couple weeks with drives that took us all the way from the Smokies to the Tidewater to the Blue Ridge and back again. We thank Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts for hosting us for their prestigious “OnStage Concert Series” which brought over 400 people out to see our concert (and a fantastic school program the following day!)
Thanks, Mitzi & Joe Soward, for having us back to Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Fest. Hard to believe it’s been a decade since our last performance there, but it was beautiful and friendly as ever.

We visited winding mountain roads to get to Galax’s Blue Ridge Music Center, where our outdoor ampitheater concert turned into an indoor seated event. It was a fun afternoon.

And of course an Appalachian trip is not complete without a visit to Abingdon’s Bonefire Smokehouse & a hang with music promoter/old building renovator/entrepreneur/ole hippie friend Doug Beatty. <3

It was a real joy to visit the East Coast on Labor Day weekend. We just loved our time there!
Every city needs a venue like Gypsy Sally’s. Their specialty is folk, Americana and bluegrass, and they organize and present it like a million bucks! We were so honored to do a concert there, alongside the amazing Karen Jonas and Tim Bray.
The kids enjoyed their time on the road with the bluegrass band, and as usual the comment was “Mom, why are there so many mans in this car?” <3 (I’m grateful those mans like games of Uno!)

Our time at Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival brought us our first New Jersey experience! Ever! This was a special, special fest. 44 years and counting, and obviously going very strong. 7,000 tickets were sold…I highly recommend this one if you like camping and pickin! 🙂

As always, I followed Hot Rize around–they were fantastic! Gibson Brothers and Italy’s Red Wine crushed some fantastic sets. It was an honor to be invited to Delaware Valley–they say they’ve been trying to get us out there since our Colorado days. Glad it happened this year, finally! Til next time, New Jersey! <3
